St. Francis Area Schools Community Education offers driver training for students at St. Francis High School. The program offers 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training.

Student Driving

STEPS TO ATTAINING A DRIVER'S LICENSE

  • Successfully complete 30 hours of classroom drivers training and receive a certificate of completion (all classes are virtual via Zoom).

  • Financially enroll in a certified behind-the-wheel program and receive a "Blue Certificate of Enrollment Card." Pass instructional driver's permit test (student must be 15 years or older and have successfully completed classroom and be financially enrolled in a certified behind-the-wheel driver education program).

  • Successfully complete 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training. Sign up for and successfully pass the driver's license test (student must be 16 years or older, have completed behind-the-wheel training and have had their instructional permit for six months or longer).

GRADUATED DRIVER LICENSE LAW

As of January 1, 2015, the number of hours of supervised practice driving required for students increased to 50 hours* including 15 hours at night. A record of the practice driving must be written on a driving log and presented at the Driver & Vehicle Services (DVS) road test.

DRIVER TRAINING INFORMATION

The State of Minnesota has extended teleconference training for classroom driver education. The teleconference training is an opportunity for students ages 14 years and older to complete 30 hours of classroom training from home.

St. Francis Area Schools Community Education offers 30 hours of classroom instruction and six hours of Behind-the-Wheel instruction, with state-certified, licensed teachers. Our program has been approved by the State of Minnesota Department of Public Safety, and we provide a safe, high-quality program for students.

St. Francis Area Schools Community Education has entered into a partnership with A+ Driving School to provide you this option for classroom instruction only until further notice.
